Just to show you how 'Mardi Gras' like these Corralejo carnivals really are, some of these photos were taken on Saturday 8th March 2008 from the balcony of a local bar. The drumming from the street bands and the procession of floats along Corralejo High Street lasted for over 2 hours! The carnival culminates in a firework display on the harbour of epic proportions. The origins of these festivals owes much to the close links between the Canary Islands and Latin America. They are well worth a visit at this time of year.
